Worldwide, water is increasingly becoming a scarce resource. Harvesting rainwater can help reduce our reliance on the earth’s natural water reserves, save money, and at the same time, contribute to the preservation of the environment. Furthermore, it has been researched and proven that water is cleanest when it falls as rain, regardless of atmospheric pollution.

Leveraging on that, Monsoon9 is a perpetual hydro system that catches, uses, cleans, reuses and recycles rainwater for all household and commercial needs. Based on the principle of not wasting water from catchment areas, Monsoon9 specialises in the collection, deposition and on-site filtration of rainwater for drinking and other purposes. Rainwater is caught and collected from the rooftops of homes and commercial buildings, stored in water tanks, filtered, and distributed or stored for future usage.Monsoon9 creates a purer alternative to chemically-disinfected drinking water. Freshwater that is non-chlorinated does not irritate the skin when used for cleansing and bathing, and is the healthier choice for cooking and drinking.

Monsoon9 also provides on-site treatment of greywater and blackwater for homes and offices. The Monsoon9 water treatment system can be installed and fitted into existing homes and commercial buildings or new developments without having the complications of a dual plumbing system. Waste water from the shower, sink and toilet is collected and pumped into a tank where it is treated, depending on whether it is greywater or blackwater. Oxygen helps aerate the waste water, while biomass digests the larger waste particles in the water. After that, the waste water undergoes a stringent process of ultra-filtration, ultraviolet disinfection, and finally, chlorination where the remaining bacteria from the filtered and disinfected greywater and blackwater are eliminated to produce both potable and non-potable water respectively. Recycled greywater becomes potable water, which can be used for drinking and cooking, and for watering food crops, while recycled blackwater can be used for toilet flushing and other areas where it makes greater ecological sense to use non-potable water in place of treated water (e.g. watering of outdoor greenery and industrial cleaning).
